Testing works were undertaken at No. 8 Mary Street as part of granted planning permission for a four-storey commercial and residential building. The site is within the medieval walled town of Clonmel. Four test-trenches were opened, resulting in the discovery of six features: five walls and a post-medieval linear feature. The walls were of post-medieval date and were part of a cellar system pertaining to an earlier structure on the site. The presence of cellars had destroyed any earlier structures/deposits that might have been on the site.
