The development consisted of a single dwelling situated c. 22m outside the line of the north section of the medieval town wall. Three 1.2m-wide trenches were opened along the development footprint. A considerable level of disturbance had occurred to the north and east of the site, where an earlier sewer line had been placed. The only area of potential archaeological interest uncovered was a cobble surface in the trench to the south. The cobble surface pre-dated the earlier 19th-century walls that crossed the site, but the exact date of the surface is not known as no datable evidence was found in association. The cobbles may date from the late medieval or early post-medieval period. The foundations for the development were stepped, preserving the cobbling in situ.
