Testing was undertaken as part of further information for planning permission to build a dairy unit at Boolareagh, Roscrea. The site was close to a souterrain. Although recorded in 1964, there is now no surviving trace aboveground of the souterrain. No trace of the souterrain was found in the course of opening one test-trench on the site. Equally, nothing that could be associated with any other monument such as a ringfort, which might have occurred close to the souterrain, was uncovered.
