This housing development site was located within the zone of archaeological potential for Sligo town, north of the town centre. Seven test-trenches were opened on the site as part of granted planning permission to build townhouses.
Evidence emerged to suggest that this plot of ground was used for horticultural purposes. Remains of cultivation ridges, furrows and vegetable beds were found. On the first-edition OS map (1837) the site was a vacant plot with houses located along the west side of the plots. Any artefacts uncovered in the course of testing dated to the late 19th and early 20th century.
