Monitoring of groundworks for a single-house development and associated works at Killeenduff, Easkey, took place in July 2005. There are several archaeological sites in the area.
A medium-sized track excavator with a 1.5m-wide toothless grading bucket was used to strip the driveway, the greater area for the house and the route to and including the percolation area. Narrower buckets were used thereafter to open the foundation trenches. The topsoil is a light-brown soil, 0.25–0.3m deep generally, with very few stones. There was good deep subsoil. The few modern finds of crockery were only in the front part of the site in the back garden area of the adjacent house. There were no archaeological discoveries, the few items noted being of modern vintage and of no archaeological consequence.
