Testing was undertaken at the site of an extension to a leisure facility at Enniscrone. The site is close to a number of monuments, including two passage tombs, with the nearest tomb being 35m to the south.
Fourteen trenches were opened on the site of the extension. Five linear features were discovered. Of these, two were modern: the water main and a cutting for an access road; and two, at their earliest, post-medieval. Only one feature, a linear cut in Trench 12, had any possible archaeological provenance. No dating evidence was found within this feature and its function remains unknown, although it was cut from beneath the topsoil.
