Monitoring of topsoil-stripping for the realignment of the R297 in Bartragh townland, Enniscrone, was carried out for Sligo County Council. The proposed development traverses two green fields in the townlands of Bartragh and Scurmore. The development crosses the boundary which divides the two townlands at Devlin Bridge. The proposed realignment runs within 75m of the zone of archaeological potential for a prehistoric enclosure, which is located in the adjacent townland Muckduff (SMR 16:38). There are a number of sites in the surrounding hinterland of the proposed realignment. No features of archaeological significance were uncovered.
