A second phase of eight houses, access road and associated works was proposed for a small development at Ardcumber, Riverstown, Co. Sligo; the first phase was monitored in August 2004 (Excavations 2004, No. 1490, 04E1106).
The greater part of the site was stripped with a track machine using a toothless bucket and the soil stockpiled on site. The soil was brown, with few stones near the surface, but underlying this the bedrock is quite shallow in places; elsewhere there is a good deep soil. There were no archaeological discoveries, all items noted being of modern vintage and of no archaeological consequence.
