An assessment was carried out at the site of a proposed local authority housing development at Kilcolman, Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon. Although there is no zone of archaeological potential surrounding the town of Ballaghaderreen, there are six known monuments in Kilcolman townland. None are located near to the development. Seven test-trenches were excavated with the aid of a 21-tonne tracked machine equipped with a toothless grading bucket. All were excavated as far as the natural boulder clay in areas of proposed ground disturbance. No archaeological remains were identified.
