This is the first of two proposed adjacent single-house developments at Drumcleavry, on the Roscommon side of the Shannon, c. 1km to the east of Jamestown, Co. Leitrim. The site is 500m north of the large prehistoric earthwork site known as the Doon of Drumsna. There is a potential earthwork site located on the site of the proposed development, as indicated on the first- and second-edition OS maps. Four test-trenches were excavated by machine in May 2005. While these four trenches revealed evidence of activity associated with the later industrial development of the site, no evidence of potential archaeological activity was revealed. All the trenches measured 10m by 1.9m and were excavated to depths of 0.35–0.8m. No archaeological activity was revealed in any of the test-trenches.
