Testing was undertaken in advance of the construction of a single dwelling at Coolteige, Co. Roscommon. The southernmost extent of a probable ringfort (SMR 35:65) is located c. 65m from the nearest edge of the subject site.
Three test-trenches were excavated by mechanical excavator fitted with a toothless bucket, following which the sides and bases were investigated by hand. Nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered.
