Pre-development test-trenching was carried out at the site of the proposed Moyally O2 telecommunications tower, site compound and associated access road. The site is located to the south-east of Moate village. An enclosure (SMR 1:5) is located c. 100m to the east of the proposed development.
The site was assessed on the basis of four mechanically excavated test-trenches, on 7 October 2005. No soils or features of archaeological significance were encountered during the excavation.
