Testing of a greenfield site in Faulkland, Co. Monaghan was undertaken in advance of the construction of a single dwelling on 21 November 2005. The site is located in the northern corner of a field bounded to the north-east and south-east by a tree-lined avenue originally leading to Faulkland Castle. The field slopes steeply down from south to north, and was under pasture at the time of testing. The remains of Faulkland Castle (MO009-059) are located 170m to the east of the development.

Four parallel test trenches excavated by machine exposed natural soils at a depth of 0.2-0.25m below the existing surface. No archaeological features were exposed and no significant finds were recovered.
