Testing was carried out at the location of proposed works to the rear of Nos 76–79 Glaslough Street in Monaghan on 9 of February 2005. The proposed commercial development will include the demolition of two derelict sheds and the construction of a three-storey building consisting of two ground-floor shops, four two-bedroomed apartments at first and second floor, and the erection of an office at the first-floor level over an existing single-storey extension. This site is contained within the zone of archaeological potential for Monaghan town (SMR 9:41). Two test-trenches were excavated. No archaeological features were discovered during the assessment.
