Testing was carried out at the site of proposed shops and apartments at Haggard Street, Trim, Co. Meath, on 30 May 2005. The development is directly adjacent to St Patrick’s Cathedral (ME036–024) and is in an area considered by some to be associated with the first settlement of Trim in ad 432.
Three trenches were excavated through the proposed development area. They recorded the presence of a number of features indicative of considerable archaeological deposits, so it was recommended that the proposed development area be subject to a full programme of archaeological works.
Editor’s note: Although this licence was issued during 2005, the report on the work was not received in time for inclusion in the bulletin of that year.
