An assessment was carried out on the site of a proposed commercial and residential development at Townparks, Kells, Co. Meath. No archaeological features were identified in any of the fields or in any of the seven areas identified during the geophysical survey. A linear north–south post-medieval field boundary was identified in Trenches 2–5, which corresponds with a linear anomaly identified in Area 1. A large pit-like feature identified in the south-west corner would appear to correspond to a thin spread of black-coloured clay exposed in Trench 2. No other potential archaeological features were identified in either Area 2 or Area 6 and it is likely that the potential features identified during the geophysical survey were geological in nature.
A possible pit was exposed at the edge of the western baulk in Trench 34 at a depth of 0.55m; it measured 0.65m in length by 0.5m in width and had been filled with a black-coloured loam containing some angular stone and charcoal flecks. No features were exposed in either Trenches 33 or 35 nearby, and it is likely that this feature represents land clearance and is not archaeological in nature.
