Mayo County Council has refurbished the group water scheme in an area just south-east of Killala town. The townlands included in the refurbishment are Carrowreagh, Kilroe, Meelick, Moyne and Ruheens. The excavation of a narrow trench was monitored. The trench was kept to within the existing road and generally followed the line of the existing water main. In places it cut through areas of constraint around three enclosures, as well as ecclesiastical remains. No archaeological material or deposits were uncovered in any of the excavated trenches.
