Monitoring was undertaken on works involving culverting the Castlebar River and the construction of an access road to Castle Street carpark from Lower Charles Street, as the works were within the zone of archaeological potential for Castlebar town, SMR 78:3. Monitoring was carried out over a four-day period; all topsoil-stripping was monitored but no finds of archaeological interest were recovered and no features of potential archaeological significance recorded.
