An assessment was carried out on the site of a proposed commercial development at Big Street, Termonfeckin, Co. Louth. Five test-trenches were excavated. Prior to testing the old service station and associated building had been demolished and the rubble removed. The only feature exposed was a post-medieval stone-lined culvert exposed in Trenches 3 and 4, which was orientated east–west. It lay below a layer of compact dark-brown clay that lay directly above the natural clay and gravel. A soak pit filled with a fine gravel was exposed in Trenches 2 and 3 and this acted as a soakage area for petrol overspill. No archaeological features were exposed and no finds were recovered.
