The site of the proposed development is located on the eastern edge of the village of Ballinalee, Co. Longford. The development is to consist of twenty semi-detached houses, in addition to related access roads and services. The site is within the boundary of the medieval/post-medieval town of Ballinalee. Five trenches were excavated across the site. All were 1.5m wide, with one measuring 60m long and two each measuring 100m and 40m in length. All of the trenches were excavated to a depth of 0.4–0.45m. No evidence of archaeological activity was revealed.
