Monitoring of the ground-reduction works was undertaken within this development site. The site was reduced to a depth of 0.25–0.3m below modern ground level by a mechanical excavator. Parts of the site appeared to have been disturbed previously, especially at the westernmost limit. A dark-brown topsoil, c. 0.25m deep, was generally removed to reveal a yellow clay subsoil. The stratigraphy in the northern central section differed. Here a dark-brown topsoil, c. 0.15m deep, was removed to reveal a grey mixed clay that contained sherds of 19th- and 20th-century glazed red earthenware and porcelain. No finds or features of an archaeological nature were noted.
