Following pre-development testing at a site to the rear of a grocery shop at Bank Place, Lord Edward Street, Kilmallock (Excavations 2004, No. 1012), the licence was reactivated in May 2005 and the remainder of groundworks were monitored. Part of this work, ducting for water and power, was undertaken c. 3m east of the remains of the medieval town wall constructed before the end of the 13th century. All of this area was found to be backfilled with modern building debris from a neighbouring development, up to 2m deep. No archaeological features or artefacts were recorded.
