Test-trenching was carried out in advance of the construction of a development of 63 dwellings and associated works at Ballyvareen, Kildimo. The northern tip of the site lies within the zone of archaeological potential for an enclosure. Three trenches were excavated. The trenches varied between 30m and 40m in length and were 1.5m wide. Nothing of an archaeological nature was noted during the testing. A previously unrecorded fulacht fiadh was tentatively identified in a field adjacent to the development.
