Testing was carried out at this site before upgrading works to an existing water treatment building, which is located on the possible site of a holy well. There are no visible surface traces of the holy well and it may have been destroyed during construction of the water treatment building. It was intended to excavate three test-trenches through a loose stony surface surrounding the treatment building, but attempts to carry out test-trenching proved futile, as the trenches began to fill up with water as soon as they were opened. The surface of the infilled stone material consisted of a fine gravel, but this was found to seal an underlying layer of small boulders, and water from a nearby stream began to pour into the trenches as soon as any of the boulders were removed.
