The site of the proposed development at Drumcong, Co. Leitrim, to consist of 30 single-storey houses, access, services and landscaping, is immediately behind the national school, adjacent to a county council housing development. Seven test-trenches were excavated across the site in June 2005. All were 1m wide and were excavated to a depth of 0.2–0.3m. Two of the trenches were 100m long, two were 60m long and there were one each measuring 80m, 50m and 40m long. There was no evidence of any archaeological activity in any of the trenches.
