The assessment of Contract 3, Testing Area 7, of the M7 Portlaoise–Castletown/M8 Portlaoise–Cullahill motorway scheme involved the mechanical excavation of 29 test-trenches. These had a combined length of 1638.01 linear metres, resulting in a total excavated area of 3521.72m2, or c. 10.9% of the total area (32,287m2). The testing area is situated in the townland of Trumra at Chainage 27500–27300. Testing Area 7 consisted of five separate fields (Fields 275, 276, 277, 280, and 281/282 which represented one field). One of these fields (Field 276) was not tested during the current assessment. No archaeological sites, features or artefacts were recorded.
