Testing within the road-take here of the route of the proposed N9/N10 Kilcullen–Waterford scheme: Contract 3, Prumplestown to Powerstown, revealed four pits, one linear feature and a burnt spread. Two of the pits were small and quite shallow and the remaining two were oval in plan and larger in dimensions. One of the larger pits contained a long bone and tooth from a juvenile cow or deer. A linear feature was identified crossing four trenches; it was orientated east–west. The linear feature cut a previously disturbed area (by field drains) of heat-shattered stone and charcoal.
