One of the pits at this site along the route of the proposed N9/N10 Kilcullen–Waterford scheme: Contract 3, Prumplestown to Powerstown, was irregular in plan and was only partially exposed. It measured 2m wide and 0.2m deep. The sides and base were irregular. There were some patches of oxidised subsoil at the base, indicating some burning in situ. Some possible medieval pottery was recovered from the fill. The edges of the second pit were identified in two intersecting trenches. The main part of the pit was beneath the baulk. It seemed to be at least 4m long and 0.3m deep. The fill contained occasional charcoal.
A large number of north-west/south-east-orientated furrows were noted in the vicinity of the two pits. These were up to 0.5m wide and 0.3m deep. The fill was dark-brown silty clay with occasional charcoal.
