The site is located to the rear, south-west, of Winston’s Department Store, St Kieran’s Street, Kilkenny, within the zone of archaeological potential for the historic city. Three test-trenches were excavated on site. The stratigraphy consisted of a sterile greyish-black silty clay underlying concrete and rubble. No finds or features of an archaeological nature were noted.
