Monitoring was requested as a planning condition on the construction of a storm-drain pipeline trench from Granges Road to an outfall at the Bregagh River just beyond Butts Roundabout, Kilkenny city. Part of the proposed route ran through the zone of archaeological potential for the historic town and across the suggested western line of the monastic enclosure of St Canice’s Church. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted.
