A pre-planning assessment of a proposed residential development on the Thomastown road, Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny, was requested. Part of the site lay within the zone of archaeological potential identified by the Urban Archaeology Survey and adjacent to the Augustinian priory. Testing took place on 28 February and 1 March 2005, when five test-trenches were excavated within the development area. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted. Any medieval remains had been scarped out during quarrying or subsequently removed during construction of the existing garage and filling station in the 20th century.
