Monitoring of works associated with the construction of a new playground at Fair Green, Callan, was requested by the National Monuments Section of the DoEHLG and Kilkenny County Council. The development area lay c. 20m outside the suggested line of the town walls of Callan and is located within the area of archaeological constraint of the medieval town. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted during the monitoring of groundworks.
