Two shallow deposits of burnt-mound material of heat-shattered stone and charcoal in a black charcoal-stained silty clay were located along the route of the proposed N9/N10 Kilcullen–Waterford scheme: Contract 3, Prumplestown to Powerstown. It was confined to one trench. The two deposits were roughly circular in plan and measured 2m and 1.2m in diameter, with a depth of 0.1m and 0.2m. A natural deposit of sand and silt in a meandering linear channel was identified nearby.
Additional test-trenches were excavated in the area, with the aim of locating a substantial fulacht fiadh. However, none was identified.
