Testing was carried out on the site of a proposed development, which is located at the west end of the town of Athy, Co. Kildare. It forms a linear block between the eastern bank of the Grand Canal and the line of Nelson Street, 144m in length north-west/south-east by 24m. The site was just outside the zone of archaeological potential for the medieval town of Athy. There were no monuments or features related directly to the site. Trial testing took place in May 2005. No deposits, features or artefacts of archaeological significance were discovered.
