Pre-development testing was necessary at the rear of a property on Ashe Street as the site was located within the zone of archaeological potential for Tralee town, and also bordered the perimeter wall of the Church of St John the Evangelist (Church of Ireland), which has a probable 13th-century foundation. Two test-trenches were excavated across the footprint of the foundations for the new building down to the natural subsoil layer and no archaeological features were recorded.
