It is proposed to develop new training/playing grounds in the townland of Liscahane c. 1.5km south-east of the ecclesiastical centre of Ardfert. The site of this development is within the zone of archaeological potential for a standing stone. In order to protect the monument it is proposed to erect a fence around it, and it was along the line of this proposed fence that seven test-trenches were excavated. The trenches were 4–29m from the monument and comprised a total length of 80m. No archaeological features were recorded.
