The proposed development site is located in two east-facing fields, previously in pasture, overlooking Portmagee Channel. Two test-trenches were opened, one north–south and one east–west, to a maximum depth of 0.3m. The stratigraphy on the site consisted of a dark-brown topsoil which overlay a yellow/cream clay subsoil. There were no archaeological finds or features recorded during testing.
