Four test-trenches were machine-excavated along the perimeter of the proposed development site. Topsoil was removed to a depth of c. 0.6m. This topsoil overlay a light mid-brown/orange clay in Trenches 2, 3 and 4. In Trench 1, the subsoil comprised a brown/orange stony soil with occasional rock outcrop. No finds or features of an archaeological nature were noted during testing.
