Testing in advance of the proposed construction of two dwelling houses at Killeenmunterlane North, Co. Galway, was undertaken in May 2005. Within the field of the proposed development is an enclosure site. The site was not indicated on the first edition of the OS 6-inch sheet, but it is marked as a circular enclosure on the third edition of the OS. Four trenches were mechanically excavated in the course of the pre-development testing. The stratigraphy encountered in each of the trenches was the same, removal of the sod and topsoil revealing a natural gravel layer with frequent large limestone boulders. No features or artefacts of archaeological significance were revealed. Excavation of the trenches revealed a natural gravel ridge in the area of the enclosure site.
