The proposed development concerns the construction of nine houses and associated services and, due to the proximity of the development to a ringfort and souterrain, it was recommended that pre-development testing be carried out. The stratigraphy encountered in the six trenches was the same throughout the field. Removal of the sod and topsoil to a depth of 0.2m revealed a brown clay, which overlay the natural marl. Testing indicated no traces of subsurface features which may have been associated with the monuments.
