This site had been highlighted as an area of high archaeological potential, based on the results of geophysical survey. Phase 1 testing confirmed the presence of three possible brick clamp kilns, identified through geophysical survey, and a possible associated well. The work was commissioned by Galway County Council National Roads Design Office and sponsored by the National Roads Authority.
