This site was identified as the plough-truncated remains of a burnt mound. It measured 5.2m east–west by 9.5m and a test section revealed a depth of 0.19m. This feature contained one deposit, which consisted of black silt with much charcoal and burnt stones. Two modern plough furrows were noted to be running north-west/south-east and truncating the burnt mound. A modern stone-filled drainage feature was also noted c. 24m west of the site.
The work was commissioned by Galway County Council National Roads Design Office and sponsored by the National Roads Authority.
