Monitoring was carried out over the course of a week at a proposed new storage reservoir in Silloge, Co. Dublin, in August 2005 on behalf of Dublin City Council. The proposed development involves the construction of a ground storage reservoir, pumping station and elevated water tower on a greenfield site just north of the M50.
All the groundworks were carried out using mechanical excavators digging to an average depth of 0.35m and in a single instance to a maximum depth of 2m, in a waterlogged area along the proposed haul road. Throughout the course of the excavations no features or finds of archaeological significance were noted.
