Monitoring took place on 28–29 September 2005 at the Old Orchard Twin Restaurants on Butterfield Avenue, Rathfarnham. The development was an extension to the rear of the Twin Restaurants. The area to the north of the development area was excavated by the writer in two phases, in May–June and August–September 1997. The excavation uncovered skeletal remains superimposing an earlier site (Excavations 1997, No. 184, 97E0140). Further skeletal remains, which may represent an extension of this site, were discovered by Yvonne Whitty during a programme of test-trenching in July 2005. No features or finds of archaeological interest came to light during the monitoring of the site.
