Test-trenching took place on 4 and 5 May 2005 using a mini-digger. Three trenches were excavated in line with the foundation trenches of the proposed development. A late 19th-/early 20th-century badminton hall, demolished in 1946, was formerly on the site. Three test-trenches were excavated across the site. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered during the testing.
