Testing was carried out to the rear of the College of Technology. There were three trenches excavated in an east–west direction across the site. The stratigraphic sequence was similar in all trenches, with layers of demolition rubble and backfill overlaying layers of clay and natural gravel to a depth of up to 3m. A series of basements were also uncovered. These relate to the demolished Georgian buildings which faced onto North King Street. Nothing of archaeological importance was uncovered.
