The modern housing estate was once part of the grounds of Corke Abbey House, which, the OS letters note, was built on the grounds of Corke Abbey. The curvilinear road may have related to the curvilinear outer boundary of the monastic site. The site is directly in the vicinity of SMR 26:69, a holy well, and is directly south of the site of SMR 26:68, an abbey and graveyard. There is now no trace of the abbey site, while it is not clear where exactly it was located.
The site is the garden of a modern house on the estate. Development was proposed for the site and was granted permission subject to conditions including trial-testing. This took place on 23 November 2005. No features or finds of archaeological significance came to light.
