Trial-testing was carried out at The Green, Balrothery, Co. Dublin, in response to the planning conditions. It was proposed to construct a development of eight dwellings on this site. The site is in an area in which a great deal of archaeology has already been found in the multi-ditched enclosure at Rosepark and the medieval church in the village, both of which are close to the site. Extensive archaeology from the prehistoric to medieval periods has come to light in recent excavations in and around the town. The trial-trenching, carried out in September 2005, revealed no archaeological layers or features on this site, apart from the stone walls of known 18th- and 19th-century buildings.
