Supervision of the removal of topsoil at the location of a proposed new dwelling was undertaken in April 2005. The site consisted of a plot of land, 40m north-east/south-west by 30m, with a new access road, 55m in length, running off the existing Drumarden Road. The topsoil was removed across the entire development, including the new access road, using a mechanical digger fitted with a flat toothless bucket. On average, the topsoil measured 0.3m in depth and its removal revealed the undisturbed natural subsoil, a light blue/grey clayey sand. There were no archaeological features or deposits uncovered with the limits of the site.
