A test excavation was conducted at this site in advance of the proposed N15 Ballybofey–Stranorlar bypass. A small circular area, c. 11m in diameter, visible from the aerial photographs as a cropmark, is located c. 80m to the south of the northern field boundary. This area was also visible as an area of differential growth during the field survey and identified as AAP32 in the EIS.
Eighteen trenches were excavated across the site using a mechanical excavator fitted with a toothless bucket. These trenches revealed old field boundaries and drainage features associated with farming. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered.
